About the Event

Join us at a the History Social the third Wednesday of each month at the Historic Hotchkiss House

built in 1905 and original Winter home of Eli Hotchkiss "the Stapler King"

from 5:30-6:30pm

An interesting guest speaker from 6:30-7:30pm

July guest speaker: Author and MOAS Curator Zach Zacharias

Talks about his Florida history book titled "Florida Forts On the Edge of Empire" a travel guide history book about the important coastal fortifications from 1563 to 1898.

Discover the amazing forts that now sit as relics to a bygone age in Florida History. The Spanish, English, French, and Americans all built major fortifications to control the all-important strategic peninsula. Uncover the history of Florida through historic forts such as Fort Caroline, Fort Clinch, St Augustine Castillo, Fort Pickens, Fort Christmas, and many more. Learn about Florida History through its amazing forts.

Then relax on the patio and enjoy the evening overlooking the Halifax River

or enjoy a walk-thru tour of Lilian Place 1884 Victorian Museum!

HPT members: FREE

Nonmembers: $5+tax per person
